Refugee ID Card and Work Permit
The refugee-applicant ID card is a provisional document issued by the Directorate General of Migration and Immigration (DGME), valid for up to 2 years. At RODAVAR we guide you through the entire process: whether it is your first time, a renewal, or a replacement if you lost it or it was damaged.
The process, step by step
- 1
Write to us and we assess your case
You contact us on WhatsApp and together we review whether this is your first time, a renewal, or a replacement, and what information you need to have on hand.
- 2
We schedule your appointment
We coordinate your appointment with the DGME through the 1311 line or the Appointment Portal. For renewals, the appointment can be scheduled up to 3 months before expiration.
- 3
We prepare your documentation
We organize the details of your file and guide you on what you need so your procedure moves forward without setbacks.
- 4
We support you until the end
We follow up throughout the process and answer your questions on WhatsApp until you have your card.
What you need to have ready
- Applicant's information.
- Previous document or card (for renewal or replacement).
- Details of your file with the DGME.
- Availability to attend the appointment.
Frequently asked questions
Do you help with both the first time and the renewal?
Yes. We support you in all three situations: the first application for the card, the renewal, and the replacement if you lost it or it was damaged. For renewals, it is best to schedule the appointment up to 3 months before expiration.
Does the work permit come with the card?
Since July 2024, the work permit is included within the card itself and authorizes you to work as an employee or self-employed, in addition to allowing enrollment in the CCSS. If you obtained your card before that date, you can request that the work authorization be added. We are happy to guide you on your case.
What do I do if I lost or damaged my card?
You can process a replacement. Write to us with the details of your file and we will coordinate the appointment to arrange your new card.
